Every thread tells a story.
Every motif carries the memory of generations.
And every loom echoes the rhythm of India’s cultural heartbeat.
Every year on August 7th, India celebrates National Handloom Day, a tribute to the vibrant traditions, enduring artistry, and economic strength that are woven into the nation’s handloom fabrics. At Eternal Pehnawa, we honour the spirit, patience, and creativity of every artisan whose nimble fingers and passionate hearts sustain this living legacy.
This date marks the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905, when Indians united to promote indigenous goods and revive the handloom industry as a beacon of self-sufficiency and freedom. In recognition of this historic milestone, the Government of India designated August 7th as National Handloom Day in 2015.
The 2025 Theme:Handlooms – Empowering Women, Empowering the Nation
For 2025, the theme celebrates the extraordinary role of women weavers, whose work upholds heritage, strengthens local economies, and advances sustainable fashion across generations. Over 70% of India’s handloom workforce are women, making this a day to honor their artistry and economic empowerment
Why Handlooms Matter
India is one of the largest producers of handwoven textiles in the world. Handloom isn’t just fashion — it’s identity, history, and livelihood for over 4.3 million people, most of whom are women and marginalised communities. When you buy handloom, you don’t just buy cloth — you invest in a craft, a family, a future.
Honouring the Artisans Behind the Loom
On this National Handloom Day, let us:
Celebrate the artisan — the weaver who patiently ties each knot, the dyer who blends tradition with natural colours, and the entire ecosystem of handcraft that keeps this heritage alive.
Support consciously — by choosing handmade over machine-made, we create demand that sustains rural livelihoods and traditional knowledge systems.
Share their stories — every saree, dupatta, or fabric has a weaver behind it. Learn about them, talk about them, and amplify their voices.
Innovate with respect — let modern design meet traditional weaving without erasing the artisan. Collaboration, not exploitation, is the key.
Eternal Pehnawa’s Pledge
At Eternal Pehnawa, we proudly honor India’s master weavers and artisans. Each handloom saree and suit in our collection represents not only exquisite craftsmanship, but also a strong connection to our nation’s heritage, a commitment to sustainability, and a dedication to shared progress.

On the occasion of National Handloom Day 2025, we take the pledge to promote and use Indian handloom products, thereby supporting the weavers and artisans of our country. By participating in this celebration, we affirm our support for sustainable fashion, the preservation of our rich textile traditions, and the empowerment of local handloom communities.
